He graduated and received his master’s degree in sports management from the Faculty of Sports and Physical Education, University of Sarajevo.
He began his sports career at the Basketball Club “Bosna”, where he gained recognition and affirmation as a player. He played for European clubs such as “Unicaja Malaga” in Spain, “PTT Ankara”, “Tofaş Bursa” and “Tuborg Izmir” in Turkey.
Avdić was a member of the junior and senior basketball teams of Yugoslavia. He was the champion of the Balkans, Europe and the world.
He also represented Bosnia and Herzegovina in the senior basketball team and was its captain.
In addition to his professional sports career, Avdić actively participated in social initiatives. He is a co-founder of the humanitarian organization “Dobro.ba” and served as the sports director of the senior basketball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
In the period from November 2012 to October 2016, Avdić was a member of the Novo Sarajevo Municipal Council, and in the same period a member of the Commission for Strategic Planning and Development of the Municipality of Novo Sarajevo.
From January 2021 to March 2023, he served as the Minister of Culture and Sports in the Government of Sarajevo Canton, and from July 2023 to November 2024, he was the Deputy Mayor of the City of Sarajevo.
His contribution to society brought him several awards, and he earned the status of meritorious sportsman of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
