Michal Maco

Michal Maco is the Country manager of Corwin Slovenija. His interest in the art of spatial and architectural design, as well as urban planning, dates back to his early years, and he has been actively involved in urbanism since 2007. His studies in urban planning took him to Stockholm and the Faculty of Architecture in Ljubljana, while he pursued his doctorate in Berlin and Bratislava. Currently, he oversees four extensive revitalization projects in Ljubljana. Among them is the first sustainable business building in Slovenia with LEED Platinum pre-certification and the ambition to join only two carbon-neutral buildings in Europe with LEED Zero Carbon certification. As the leader of the largest local development company, Michal Maco is a regular participant in public discussions related to sustainable real estate development.  

His team is driven by the ambition to create sustainable and people-oriented urban areas. One of their principles is to focus on building projects on brownfield sites, neglected but urbanized parts of the city. They strive to develop such areas into revitalized urban spaces. In one of his interviews, dr. Maco stated, “Our mission is not to become the largest developer but the greenest, most sustainable developer setting new trends and quality standards in the local community, construction industry, and sustainable residential and business project development. Our projects, especially on the scale we are currently working on in Ljubljana, will shape the city for the next decades and possibly hundreds of years. We feel the responsibility for the future and strive to be a positive driving force for responsible and sustainable urban development.”  

Michal Maco is also one of the founders of the successful Slovak clothing brand – Bratiska.
