Dr. Marta Bon is a distinguished Slovenian expert in sports, pedagogy, and public engagement.
Since 1993, she has been employed at the Faculty of Sport as a university professor. She is also a professor of the subject ‘Management of Sport Facilities’ at the Faculty of Economics.In her youth, she was a successful handball player, reaching the semifinals of the European Cup Winners’ Cup twice with RK Olimpija.
As a coach, she led RK Krim and the Slovenian women’s national handball team, achieving historic results including 8th place at the World Championship. She also served as the head coach of the Swiss women’s national team.
In addition to her sports career, she has been active in politics, serving as a city councilor in Ljubljana and chair of the sports committee. Since 2024, she has been serving as the President of Športna zveza Ljubljana. Additionally, she is a member of the supervisory board of Ljubljana Castle and .
In 2015, she received the Bloudek Award for her outstanding contribution to the development of Slovenian sports.
She was also member of Executive committee of European handball federation.
Her work combines elite sports, scientific research, and social activism.
