Ljubljana Forum 2015
Ljubljana Forum 2015 Future of cities conference, held on 8th and 9th of October 2015 at Ljubljana Castle, Ljubljana, Slovenia successfully concluded. Ljubljana Forum 2015 gathered over 120 participants to exchange the knowledge, discuss the opportunities and ideas for empowering cities and people.

Mr. Zoran Janković, Mayor of the City of Ljubljana, Mr. Miro Cerar, Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia, and Mr. Blaž Golob, Chairman of Ljubljana Forum, welcomed the participants and stressed the important role of the cities as employment, educational and cultural centres of creativity. Mr Julij Božič, General Manager, IBM Slovenia, highlighted the importance of the technology solutions for the empowerment of cities and people, such as the new Smart City Platform that enables cities to act upon all city challenges, give citizens the power of active participation and business to use platform to present their solutions.
Key note speakers of the first session, Ms. Patricia McCarney, President and CEO, World Council on City Data, Mr. Oliver Rothschild, Chairman, Oliver Rothschild Corporate Advisors, Ms. Daniela Urschitz, Smart City Vienna, and Mr. Jan Sturesson, Global Leader, Partner, PriceWaterHouse, gave an insight into smart city development and explained how to adapt our cities for future quality living and creation of resilient smart cities. The importance of holistic perspective, and measuring and monitoring the performance was highlighted in that respect.
During these two days, the distinguished international speakers wowed the audience with presentations of key urban development challenges and future opportunities and the best urban development projects. City leaders shared their recent progress and experience towards smart city development.
Each year Ljubljana Forum Future of Cities Award is granted to the most outstanding smart city development project. We are proud to announce that Ljubljana Forum Future of Cities Award 2015 was granted to the Ankara Boulevard project, a project that ensured a faster, comfortable and safer transportation to the citizens and it significantyl improved the efficiency of public transportation.

A networking and workshop session on “Becoming a Smart City measured by ISO 37120 standard” with a more in-depth overview of WCCD ISO 37120 certification including the process for certification and a detailed discussion on the benefits of being an ISO 37120 city. Your city will have the opportunity to become one of the “First 100 Cities” to be certified under ISO 37120.
